Hi,

My bargain of 2005 was a job lot of cameras which had a black SP hiding away in it. 😀

Delighted, and it's in beautiful condition. Had an old filter on throughout and the glass is pristine. Works perfectly in manual mode, but meter isn't too clever. As such, the AE mode is sticking.

Paid next to nothing for it, so want to have it worked on by an expert.

Question: where is the best place to have an old Olympus repaired?

All suggestions gratefully received.

Thanks in advance,
Charles

nottageek: You don't say where you are. I can recommend Clint at Photosphere (olyfix.com), and can highly recommend John Hermanson at Camtech, http://www.zuiko.com.

Clint did a CLA on one of my SPs, and John took two SPs, one with a damaged top plate, the other with a dead meter, and made one gorgeous camera for me. Clint does not do a meter conversion (to silver oxide) as part of the CLA, but John does. The meter conversion was a neat, tidy job and it is "spot on" (sorry, couldn't resist!) with my other SP that is running ona mercury PX625. SP in original leather , (CLA by Clint), SP in new leather by John.

Neither John nor Clint are "cheap", but they are worth every penny. Both were formerly Olympus techs, I believe John was a supervisor.
