It's been a good weekend so far. Just returned from a road trip with my son to Bradford, PA where we visited the Zippo lighter and Case knives factory and museum. Highly recommend it. Bought and had monogrammed a Zippo (don't smoke) and a little Case pocket knife. Good drive there and back. When I got back home, a package containing a nice black OM 1 was waiting for me. Yep, a good weekend so far. Hope you can say the same!

(My B+W processing is piling up.)

Ha ha!, the Zippo museum is on the boring ride between our place and my in-laws'...we've been there, it's pretty cool! I don't smoke either but have long regretted not buying a lighter.

Mabel, I found the back roads anything but boring! Interesting sights, and beautiful hilly countryside.

Frank, that's a great weekend! I own a brass Zippo, which I really like. When I visited, we happened to see the sign for the museum from the main highway, and didn't have time to take the backroads home. Next time I'll do that.

The "new" OM is beautiful ... Bring it yo the meet, and I'll bring my my black OM-2.

Hi Earl, I was about to buy a brass Zippo, but decided to spend less and bought a package with lighter, fluid, and flint. I asked, but they did not have NHL team logos.

I have a nice black OM1n that Uncle John rebuilt a few months ago plus an equally nice black OM2n that awaiting its turn. OMs are great bodies! When I'm all loaded up for bear, I carry one or the other with a 24 and a 135 in my M bag.

Sounds good Ken. For this trip, I took along an OM 2 (chrome) with 28, 50, and 135 Zuiko lenses. I'm planning on having John cla the black OM 1.

My black OM-1 is somewhere between the US and OZ ... any day now! :D

I meant to add ... for some odd reason my OM-1, which John (camtech) posted on the 12th, didn't leave the US until the 21st according to the tracking info on the USPS site.

Nine days lurking in the US before it actually left the country ... Bizarre!!!

Hi Frank
Have you an upgraded battery circuit on the black OM1?
Had mine done last year - wondered about keeping the body in its original state or having the convenience of the more available battery. Decided the camera wasn't a museum piece but something to use!
Yours looks a nice camera.
My Dad had a Zippo - can't think what happened to it.

Let us know when it arrives, Keith. Sorry to hear about your Hasselblad lens experience! Seems there is a ray of hope. Good luck with that.

Jesse, new light foam seals and a battery circuit upgrade are my main reasons for the planned CLA.

Those GPS car navigation devices are great things. Drive without regard to go sight-seeing, then turn it on with your hotel destination and it talks you back.

Mine arrived back safe and sound last Friday. I took it out for a test-roll today..........lovely. I've just got the funds to have the others overhauled so they're off to the post office tomorrow.

Mine was stuck in the US for four days before it left......strange indeed

I've heard stories about long customs and security backlogs at major ports here. I'd guess your package left from San Francisco or Los Angeles. Priority Mail travel time from New York to the west coast should be 2-3 days. Allow one day for customs, etc., and you're looking at it leaving the country pretty close to the 17th. Or, the 18th, if people didn't work on the Sunday.

I picked up a mint solid 14k zippo for scrap gold value. It has markings from 1957. I hate to think what has met the scrap smelter recently with gold values escalating. It happened back in 1980 as well.

I have two rare OM lenses I may part with - 90mm Macro f/2 and the 18mm.

Since getting interested in OM gear, I've over-bought and will eventually be selling off 3 chrome OM 1 bodies and several lenses. (28, 50f1.4, 35-70f4)

My black OM-1 arrived back from John yesterday ... USPS took it's time for some reason but the joy at finally seeing the box at the local post office yesterday was well worth the wait. It's trip to the states for repair and back has taken well over two months but I have to say it was worth it. The camera has a new prism and has had a full CLA along with the meter conversion ... it feels as smooth as silk.

(I would have said 'butter' but I've discovered that that's a patended Leica term and cannot be used without permission!)

If anything in life is better than a freshly CLA'd black OM-1 with a 50mm 1.2 Zuiko and a fresh roll of Tri-X I have yet to experience it! (slight exaggeration!) :D

If an M3 represents Nirvana in the classic rangefinder world ... the OM-1 has to be it for SLR's!
