2nd image. The young girl on the right was PHENOMENAL... not only could she keep up, but she often started off and lead a set. AT EIGHT YEARS OF AGE!

Peter: I don't know. I only spoke to her mother briefly (to inquire as to the girl's age); I would guess she is, but that's just speculation on my part. FWIW, the mother struck me as an intelligent and balanced person.

It is capable of better, yes, but:

1/4 sec, as stated
MUCH darker than the image conveys. Compared to what I saw through the viewfinder, this is blazing noon in a desert. I could not even see the meter needle in the viewfinder, which is why I had to guess exposure.

Thanks

A lot of kids cross over to another genre for fun/relaxation. I have a violinist daughter and when she was a nipper she took a semester of blue-grass. Then she went to Ireland and played traditional Irish music. They pick it up real quick and its very enjoyable for them, so different to classical music. Nice mood in the pics BTW! :)

Thanks, Peter. I suspect the same is true for this little girl.

BTW, next time I will go with Tri-X and give it the Merciful treatment. I didn't really know what to expect in terms of lighting, and shooting wasn't really on my mind. So I just grabbed the camera with what was in it. I'll also take a Minolta IIIF handheld meter to get a good reading.

Steph: I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing an EI of 3200 or 6400 is about right. Andrew (Merciful) will have some data, too, I'm sure.

I also have some DD-X, so Rodinal is not my only option, though it's my first choice given Merciful's success with it and push processing.
