I'm beyond excited. I booked my first solo exhibition a couple of weeks ago and my world has been a flurry of photography ever since. I'm currently selecting the final photographs (hope to print this coming week). For lack of a better term, my style is street. My two idols are Kertsz and Winogrand.

I'm a film photographer who recently switched to a M2 w/50mm Summicron V3 after drooling for months, lurking on RFF. This forum has been beyond helpful in educating me about all things Leica.

Anyway, I'm excited for this show. I'm displaying around 30 prints. If anyone's in the area, you're absolutely invited. The venue, Littlefield, is also a bar, so your Friday won't be a complete waste. It'd be great meeting some of you too!

The statue with your processing chemicals -- hmmm ...

That one's meant to show my love for film, photography, darkrooms and analog processes. I found the angel inside my friend's abandoned darkroom and figured it would be a good prop.

I'm one of the only film photographers I know, making this experience a little lonely, especially because I'm young enough to witness film's (probable) diminishing as I age.

S,

You are not alone. Although I have owned a Monochrom for over two years, I still shoot film and have been since art school in the seventies. I still shoot a lot of film (both 135 and 120).

At this point I'm making negatives for wet printing, but I don't have a darkroom to print. To me printing can always be done later and the passage of time is a great editor.

As far as photography goes I think we are living in one of the best times to be a photographer because the world is changing so fast. Not so sure film will ever become extinct, but I know that it will get more expensive as time goes on. That's why I think shooting lots of film now is an imperitive.

Don't let those Piezography prints fool you: I'm basically an old analog photographer who still shoots mucho film.

Cal

Thanks. I'm working hard to make sure it goes well. I see you're in NYC, please try to make it if you can!

I would love to go Salim. My apologies as I will be out of town visiting family for 5 days. My mother turns 90 late this year and I do not get to see her that often now that she moved south. I will see the exhibit, but will miss the opening unfortunately.

Best of luck!
