Yes, a very wide range of cities...!

Which city provides the most opportunities for street/rangefinder-centric photography?

:D

Chicago has the architecture but San Francisco is the prettiest American city. In my humble opinion, of course!

San Franscisco is one of the most beautiful cities in the world... it would be perfect if it weren't for the throng of people.

I've been to San Francisco and that area too many times, so the charm of the area has worn out for me...I wouldn't mind photographing there if I could avoid the human element...
My son goes to school in the Boston area and I've been there once (last year in October).
I enjoyed it and wouldn't mind more time for sightseeing...it was just too cold when I was there...it snowed...
I've also been to Chicago and that would be my choice of the five you mentioned above for street shooting...

The only city I've been to on the list is Montreal, and I loved it, but MassArt, SFAI (San Fran) and SAIC (Chicago) all have programs that are more compatible with my needs.

Perhaps I'm trying to justify living on Montreal anyway...

Hey, if you're travelling and considering Canada and/or the West Coast then why not hit Vancouver? Amazing scenery--summer or winter. Lots of beaches, mountains, water, trees, architecture; you name it. If it's a sunny day you can often golf and ski on the same day without traveling more than 15 miles...

Vancouver is on my short list of cities to visit, but I'm primarily looking for a large metropolis with a dense conglomeration of universities, art schools, and public gathering spaces rife with street-shooting potential.

Montreal is great (take with a grain of salt —*this, coming from a native Montrealer). But watch out if you plan to take street photos in public places. Quebec's privacy laws are quite stringent and do prevent you from publishing photos taken of people without their consent.

Yeah, I heard about this... since I do indeed intend on publishing, I have an idea for a way to circumvent those laws while simultaneously making a political statement.

Just wish Concordia offered a post-baccalaureate program-- that is the draw of SF, Chi-town, and Boston
