Canon LTM Brass QL-17 on e**y?

Canon M39 M39 screw mount bodies/lenses
they're all made of brass. someone probably stripped off the black paint in preparation of repainting it.

Hi,
Looking at the photos, I would guess that it is a custom job. It could be a cleaned of chrome one but more likely it was a black one that had the "pattina of age" (heavy brassing ;) ) that someone has stripped off and laquered. the seller specialises in renovating and selling Canonets.

This one looks like it has a silver (aluminum) lens barrel. Didn't the black ones have a black lens barrel with white numerals?

If it is a custom job, there are various options. The satin coating on a chrome one could have been acid stripped or, more likely, the top, bottom and winder came from a dead black one and were put on a working chrome body. I certainly haven't seen mention of a brass one on any of the Canonet weblinks. If it was a genuine brass one, it would be much rarer than a black one and Ken wouldn't be selling it at this price ;)
