So, I've got a bunch of dusty bronica etrs stuff around. A body, ae prism, speed grip, 40/4 MC, 75/2.8 EII, 150/4 MC, a few backs and inserts, etc. Used to use it, then got a Mamiya RZ67 and recently a Mamiya Super 23.

I'm contemplating ditching it, but some small part of me still wants to hang onto it. Any convincing arguments to actually keep the thing? I was never really terribly impressed with the gear overall.

I've used a bunch of MF gear over the years, and much of it 645. The Bronica ETR system was the best of all of it......

Until.....

I bought a Fujifilm GA645Zi. That one camera was like a bagfull of ETR gear ranging from 55 to 90 mm. Fast, accurate focus, well exposed. Very sharp images shot either manual or automated. Sold all my ETR stuff and never looked back. Have had 5 GA645Zi cameras since then, but mostly shooting 6X9 and LF now.

It will serve you well if you keep it, but it truly can all be replaced by one camera within that focal length range I listed. One very reasonably sized camera with no modular pieces.

My last GA645Zi had a shutter count of 234K shutter actuations.

Loan it to a trustworthy friend...if you don't miss it then sell it...
Can I be your new friend...???

I've been looking at the Zenza Bronica SG-A and am struggling with letting it go...
There's one at a local pawn shop...it comes with the Body, WLF, 120 & 220 back (I think in 6x7 format but could be wrong) 150 & 80mm lenses for $399US
Trying to forget about it but I can't...I should just be happy with the Mamiya m645 gear I already have...
I've seen the result those lenses can give and am intrigued...
Recently bought a set of Rolleinar 1's for the Yashicamat and a set (TS-1 to TS-5) of Harrison & Harrison Diffuser filters (67mm) for the Mamiya gear...
I've got plenty to play with for now...but there's that nagging in the back of my head...

There are ETRS lovers in RFF, including yours truly (who would be interested in a 40mm in RFF classifieds).

KEH would probably be happy to take it off your hands too.

In any case, why talk yourself into keeping something about which you feel meh? Better to upcycle it into the Bronica user stream, and reinforce your preferred MF kits.

Cheers,

Robert

Thanks for the advice!

I'm pretty sure I'll sell it and buy some glass for the Super 23. Or throw it up for trade and see if anything weird comes along that piques my interest.

Have all 3 models of Bronica ETR series and they consistently exhibit the best
IQ of my gear, just not as easy to drag around as any of my rangefinders. But if you can't find any compelling reason to use it,then I guess it's just clutter!
Regards,Peter

Given that you've still got other MF gear (RZ67), there's some logic to selling a camera that you don't use, but...

I've made the mistake of selling my Bronica system a couple of years ago because it was 'just lying around gathering dust'. And for a while, everything was fine. Couple of years later though, I really started missing the SQB, and ended up buying it back from the guy I sold it to..
