I know, I'm perfectly happy with the setup I have now (more than happy, actually). However, it gets really tempting when I can pick something up for a good price!

Hmm.. I don't remember paying $800 for the 35ZM, but just looked at my records, and indeed I did. And I don't think you missed it by $10. It's possible the guy's max bid was higher than what was won... ?

Dude, I think you've got a better setup than me or most people here. I've been heading a similar direction... I have the ZI + 35ZM, M2 which shares the 35ZM, an Iskra II for MF, a canonet ql17 gIII (which I've only used once, this one's gotta go), and the digital rebel with three lenses. A prewar contax II with 50mm is on its way :p
I need more glass for the M mount stuff, but what I really need is a new computer and some clothes for work. :bang:

This seller has a great price on the 75mm/2 Apo-Summicron ASPH, my favorite telephoto for M mount (though not the best choice for a Zeiss Ikon or M2 which don't have 75mm framelines). I paid full retail for my Biogon 35mm to keep my favorite pro-level local camera shop in beeswax. It seems like every other Item I buy I vacillate between finding the best deal on one item then buying something locally to support the local stores.

That's pretty good. I know, it stings when that happens.

I missed a 100mm lens for the Bronica - the unicorn lens - by a couple hours. Listed on KEH for $415. Sells all the time in used condition on Ebay for $800-$1200.

Ebay has a nice way of saving people money on "good deals". If it's a good deal, there are probably already professional internet auctioneers and retailers running snipes on the auction and you have little chance at winning. I lost a shot at an Xpan kit for $800 in user condition but perfect glass. I had the highest bid till the last 7 seconds, then lots by a tad to a seller with scads of transactions.

I missed a 2,8/180 MC Sonnar for Pentacon Six with M42 adapter once. It sold for 24 EUR, and all that kept me from placing a bid was that eBay couldn't get the page to load. That really got me worked up.

I watched a mint Leica IIIf with a Summar lens [in the box] for 24 hours, but I couldn't bring myself to buy it for $399. I should have.

The winning price is determined by the second highest bid and not the maximum bid placed. Ebay's proxy system does the increments automatically. You may have lost by a tad but that was ebay's proxy at work. The winner might have bid hundreds more than you but only has to pay an increment over your max bid (or whoever was second highest bidder).
