Hi there,
my girlfriend is in London now for a few days.
Do you know of a store in London that has Zeiss Ikon cameras in stock?
Cheers
Assaf

OK, just email Jacobs, Jessops, Aperture UK and the Carl Zeiss costumer service with inquiries.

If anybody here know the answer I'd be happy to read it :)

cheers
Assaf

Thanks Speysmart
Is the price for real? £1265.0?

For that price it'll be cheaper to buy from B&H and pay all the shipping and taxes. Or am I missing something?

Zeiss prices have just shot up due to the falling pound vs the world :-(

The ZM18 I bought only last month now from them now costs £100 more than I paid, but that's now £200 more than the price of the lens when it was launched.

There may be a few cameras and lenses still in the system at old prices.
Robert White lists ( ex-VAT ) old and new prices.

I doubt you'll find a ZI in the London area, or anywhere in the UK, that is cheaper than you can get it for in the US. B&H may be your best bet after all.

Buying from B&H resulted in a few good deals for me when the pound was worth $2, but now at $1.41 it will cost more to import it.

$1408 + shipping to UK + 15% VAT +6% duty + courier fee

So about £1286 GBP

Robert White lists the black ZI at £915 (~ £1050 inc. VAT). ffordes currently lists both black and chrome for £1050. Both would deliver to you within a couple of days if they have it in stock.

Assaf is in Israel, don't forget, so the exchange rate/duties/VAT equation could work out differently for him. The point is, would it be cheaper than having his girlfriend buy a ZI in the UK? Unless she can get the UK VAT refunded, I still doubt it.

Robert White / FFordes could get it to a UK email address next day. And you can get your VAT refunded (not sure how complicated this is).

London is not good for Zeiss stuff, and a lot of people (myself included) don't like 'theclassiccamera'.

As previous posters have said, it might be better to buy from the US.

Hi Guys,
I contacted the Zeiss costumer service, got the list of all UK traders and contacted them by mail.
By now, the prices they said were very high, but still didn't hear from Robert White (he's not the singer, I guess : ) )
I'll keep you updated
thanks
Assaf

The classic camera have at least one in store.

But UK prices for cameras are higher than just about anywhere in Europe, The Far East or USA. And it's only getting worse at the moment.

I got mine from Matsuiyastore (Japan) on ebay 1 year ago for around £600, now they are £1050. Excluding VAT of course.

Ok, I think I'll look for another way for purchasing that camera.
Prices in the UK are very high
Actually, I want a used chrome copy. Where can I buy it outside the trivial places?

BTW - did they do any changes in these cameras? A good friend is using a black paint ZI and the rubber back wore off and lookes quite ugly. Is it still this way?

Another question - did anyone collapse a collapsible Summicron into it? I searched and I didn't find a definite answer for this issue

Cheers
Assaf

Good news Assaf, my collapsible Summicron did collapse into my Bessa R2a, so it will collapse into the Ikon too.
