Buying Advice for Leica R8 or R9s?

My only advice is to skip it and buy a Nikon F5.
You can then purchase the excellent Leica R glass and use it via an adapter on the Nikon.

I wouldn't use R glass with an adapter (having done so in the past) if I was going to shoot film. Stop-down metering and adapter tolerances are an unnecessary headache.

I had an R8 and if I still shot film I would still have it, fantastic camera.

I bought an R9 just to give it a shot a few months back. On the plus side, great viewfinder. Stress great. I also like the general look of the camera.

On the downside the lug placement is terrible for me and the reach to the shutter button is unusually long. I'd recommend the motor drive for the accessory shutter release and grip.

I frankly prefer my F6 for a film SLR, an incredible machine. Lens selection obviously can be a determinant as to whether it's for you or not.
