I have an upcoming trip to New York and I was thinking of carrying along from home a few rolls to begin with and then buying the rest there. Having just checked with B&H, their pricing seems competitive. Are there any other (thriftier) options? I did a search but thought it might be better to ask for up-to-date information. BTW I will be staying mostly in Manhattan and I'd like to shop from a physical store. Also, will it be worthwhile developing my colour film rolls in NY? I pay at home €1.50 for C41 and €5.50 for E6 p.r. (development only), so anything around that ballpark is OK. Thanks in advance.

I don't think you're likely to find developing in NYC that's cheaper than what you're paying at home.
As to film, the big two (B&H and Adorama) are pretty much as cheap as you're going to get, however there is one thing to remember: both operate on a schedule that corresponds to Jewish religious observance, meaning they are closed on Saturday, so plan accordingly.
If you particularly like rangefinders, pop into Photo Village, just across the street from B&H. They are open Saturdays, and do sell a limited range of film, just in case you're desperate.

You might also try Fotocare (22nd between 5th and 6th) or K&M (on Broadway downtown).

Thank you all for the tips, much appreciated. B&H has good prices on Kodak films. It makes good sense to buy all the TriX and Portra I may need on the spot. I might still bring with me a handful of Precisa 100, which they don't do. I am travelling with family and I'd like to use colour for personal/touristy stuff.
That's a great suggestion Helen, thanks. I'll definitely drop a line and if you are around at the time of our visit (that will be between the 21st-30th of August), it will be a real pleasure to meet.
If there are any other suggestions on photographic exhibitions and other cultural stuff that may be happening at the time, I am all ears. Thank you all very much, again.

When I stayed in NY I picked up my film at B&H on my first day and a couple later passed by adorama and took a couple SD cards. Actually I was closer to the latter (20st between 7&8 ave) than B&H, but both are easy to reach within manhattan.

For developing, I send my films to Duggal at 23rd between 5th and 6th. E6 costs about $10 per roll. C-41 is similar. It takes about a day. Sometimes with luck, I can drop off early at 8:30 and pick up around 6pm.

Thanks very much. That list is what I needed. MOMA and the Met alone are good reasons for making the trip in the first place. I will be sure to vising the exhibitions at the ICP and the Rubin and I 'll check what's on in the other places. It feels like my plate is already full!
