Can anyone recommend a good C-41 Mini Lab in New York City?
I have a film from a recent vacation that I would like to have processed and scanned to CD.
I usually use my local 1 hour photo on the upper westside for my everyday photos and was considering a larger semi-pro lab for this batch. I've made a few calls and prices are around $10.00 for Fuji Frontier type processing.
I've actually had good luck with my local shop, however I'm wondering if a large lab may maintain its equipment better, use fresh chemistry or have better operators.
Any suggestions would be great- thanks!

I'm a big fan of LTI- I recently switched to them when their sister lab in Miami closed. Top quality all the way- pricey tho.

I have tried both LTI and Alkit. Both are top notch labs but I prefer Alkit since they give you much larger scans for the same price. They'll give you 6mp Tiffs if you ask them.

I've never had scans run- didn't know. I used to get lots of my supplies at Alkit when I lived down there- they were always a great shop. Still on Park Avenue?

Yes they're still on Park and 18th.

Good for them. It was always a nice walk up there from the studio.

PHOTOMAX at 224 8th ave (212) 929-8899 is the place I use and they do a pretty good job. Allan is the person running it. They are not open on sundays and are closed all this weekend because of memorial day.
It's between 22nd & 21st street.

Lately I've been using CRC- (Color Resource Center; 20 W. 22nd St.) for all my pro lab needs in New York. They have good clean and consistent C-41, E6, and B&W processing. I have not used them for scanning- I rent time on an Imacon at PrintSpace for scanning when I need it in NYC. CRC hired a few of the lab tech who used to do a good job for me at Color Edge, back when I lived in New York and Color Edge was still running out of 19th St. CRC is not the cheapest place around- though their prices are pretty good- but they have good service and more importantly they have always done a good efficient and professional job with my film, which is all I ask.
