Hi all,

How to use a cable release with a Leica II?
Release button on mine has no threads like other models so the existing adapters won't work AFAIK.
Release button has vertical strips on the collar (see picture below)

Is there any way?

thank you

The shutter button collar unscrews and the Leitz release cable head then screws onto the threads.

thanks to both!

I saw those adapters a few days ago.

That would let my Leica II to be used for pinhole! Or well, long speeds in general (but I have an ltm pinhole)
The curtains do strange things (ruining 99% of the pictures) and I can't service the camera now. So the safest is to use it in B.

thanks again

any tip about how to unscrew it safely? I see it's not easy...

and it turns when cranking so I don't want to force it in any way...

Hi,

I usually cock the shutter and then unscrew the little guard. It's a fiddly thing to do because of the narrow space. The next time it will not be so difficult...

BTW, the cable release thing also fits on IIIc style shutters.

Regards, David
