Hey everyone, just wondering who out there is shooting with rangefinders in Cambridge? ... It seems a pretty small town from a student's perspective, and I'd just like to know how many rangefinder fans are around.

And, not to be a snob or anything, but how many of you are using FSU gear? Not a poll so much as a plea for support, because my friends are beginning to think I'm mad for owning so many cameras ... and I know, I know, I'm barely started yet!

I think there is one other member in the Cambridge area. There are a few more of us in the Lincoln area and a large contingent in London with some regular gatherings in the city.

DavidH is Cambridge based - when he's in the country. I'm just down the road in Ipswich. Neither of us are FSU users ( Former Soviet Union...right??) I'm a Leica M6 shooter and David's a Contax G2 user.

I've missed any get togethers since I've been on RFF ( Nov 06 ) the last being Chinese New Year, I think...but I'm always up for a get together be it beer or photos - so long as I'm not working!!

BTW - The only thing you should have more of than cameras are photographs

I'm in (or rather very near) Cambridge. Don't post much though as you can see. When time permits...

I'm also down the road in Ipswich, and also an M6 shooter... Spooky. Never met Simon though.

Not far away just north of Peterborough. I go to Cambrdge fairly often (worked there for about 6 years).

M6 user (ex Voigtlander) not Zorki though. I still have a nice Yashica GTN though it rarely gets used and a Rollei 35T which I just cannot get on with.

Swindon here. Fred (tony) is in Chippenham I do believe.

My sister may be going to Cambridge to a dance school starting this autumn. In that case I may be up your way more often than never.

As for FSU gear, I had a Zorki, 2 Feds, a Kiev, and loved them all. Sold em to afford a Leica though.

If anyone does fancy a meet up then let me know. I missed the Chinese New Year due to work commitments but am always interested in meeting RFF'ers and getting some shots too.

Hey Simon - looks like a few takers from Tim's original post. Count me in for a meet if I'm around - I'm away at the mo but would be good to meet others on the planet who use a rangefinder... :)

cheers - from a scrapyard in Wales...ahh the glamour... ;)

David I was about to ask...through gritted teeth and green eyes...which exotic locale was playing host to you this time, then I saw. Green eyes are now blue, teeth are suitably ungritted!!

Glad to hear you'd be happy to meet up, hopefully we could arrange something when you're around if others are up for it

Hey Simon... :)

Well it's a rather special scrap yard...but I did have to start filming at 04.00 this morning...

I'm away in the US pretty much til end April...but after that would be good...and the more the merrier...

cheers!

Hey guys,

sorry I've been away from this thread so long...activity suddenly picked up. It'd be great to meet up one weekend if people can make it in. Glad to see there's a few of us around. If you fancy it, shall we come up with a date? Say pub and lunch, shooting in the morning and afternoon? We've got crazy weather here at the moment though, so later in the year may be better.

Anyways, the other thing is that if people want, I can do a kind of colleges tour, in the most basic sense. There's a couple of hidden gems tourists and non-students don't often get to see...

Oh, and the other thing is - work aside - the weekend gets incredibly crowded here; which is good or bad depending on your point of view shooting-wise.

Tim

I'm up for it. David's not around until end of April, that sort of time would be good for me too as I've got loads of work on incl weekends at the moment.

Not sure what anyone else fancies doing but morning photos, lunch and more photos sounds good to me. A weekend would suit me, especially with more people around.
