Around 3 weeks ago I submitted a new thread about the pitfalls involved in buying cameras from Japanese auction websites. I considered this to be a subject of general interest to a large number of people on here, so I chose the Photography General Interest forum.

Within a few hours one of the moderators, presumably, had seen fit to move the thread without explanation to an obscure forum entitled "Business / Philosophy of Photography", under the "Being a Photographer" section of the forums. This is a section I would never normally look at, and I'm sure the same goes for the vast majority on here. So I wondered if the moderator concerned would be willing to explain the reason for moving it to a section which bears no relevance to the topic of the thread?

Seemingly random or otherwise unreasonable movements of posts by mods can be upsetting but on reading the post in question, the new classification doesn't seem too bad - it's not about photography as such, but about buying stuff, isn't it?

I usually click on "new posts" and then scroll through and open those that interest me. I don't even look at what section they are in. I think the key is to write a catchy and accurate headline. My 2c
