Hello,

So, long story short, my sister and I are selling some of our Grandmother's old camera gear so that she can have the money instead. Perhaps people can give some advice on the gear we have. In particular, we're interested in which items may have value and which may not. Any advice at all would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of different camera bodies and lenses. I have included what I have been able to find out so far.
  1. Graflex Speed graphic
  2. Revere Eight model sixty (8mm film camera)
  3. Paillard Bolex H16 F25 (16mm movie camera) with Kodak Anastigmat lens
  4. Bell & Howard Filmo Diplomat (16mm film projector)
  5. Kodak Retina Reflex S w/ Schneider-Kreuznach Retina-Xenar (50mm, f/2.8)
  6. Konica Auto S2 w/ Konica Hexanon AR (45mm, f/1.8)
  7. Konica Autoreflex TC w/ Konia Hexanon AR (50mm, f/1.7)
  8. Konica Minolta MC Rokkor-PF lens (55mm, f/1.7)
  9. Konica Minolta MC Rokkor-PG lens (58mm, f/1.2)

Really appreciate it!

Thanks,

All worth something. The physically bigger items are worth more. I'd guess the total around $1k USD give or take.

Check ebay and things like collectiblend for prices.

As Scrambler suggested, look at eBay sold listings for an estimate. The large US second hand dealer KEH buy gear and will give you a quote on each item using their online quote tool.

Some (maybe all) of the film cameras and lenses (I'm not so sure about the movie equipment) would be of interest to members here, so why not list them in the RFF Classifieds, with a realistic asking price obtained from research as suggested. Some RFF members have interest in large format (Graflex), SLR cameras (for the Minolta lenses - the f/1.2 one being more desirable), and vintage cameras.

The gear looks to be in good condition from the pictures, but if you're selling them you'll need to describe them accurately (Make/model/serial #, including close up pictures of the lenses), and indicate whether they're working or not (or if that's unknown). The more high resolution pictures the better. Ask your grandmother whether they're working and if/when they were last serviced. Note shipping can be expensive for large/heavy items.

Yes, with emphasis on sold listings. People that are new at doing Ebay comps (MANY Goodwill stores fall into this category) just search the listings, and get googly-eyed at the asking prices of current listings. That tells you nothing. One must adjust the filter settings to see the sold listings. And, in the past, only registered Ebay users could view the sold listings -- not sure if that's still the case.

Just from a quick look, the Bolex motion picture camera, there used to be a following for those on eBay, back before DV became the rage, but I would list it on eBay and see how it does, and a separate listing for the projector.

As mentioned above, the Minolta lenses, if they are clean and function properly, would be of interest here or on eBay.

Looks like you have an Argus C3 and an Argus C4, the C3, if in working order would fetch $30-$40, the C4, maybe a little more, again if working properly.

The Graflex has a following, and if fully functional, I would think would fetch the best price of the lot.

Just as an aside, if the equipment was well cared for, and from the pictures it appears to have been, you might want to see if someone in the family is interested in any of it. Finding equipment of that vintage, in good shape, and with the heritage that equipment has for your family, will be next to impossible once the items are sold.

Best,
-Tim
