Hi, this is my first ever post to any fourm ever. that is my disclaimer that if this is completely wrong, asked in the wrong place or just plain silly please dont hate me.

my father used to use this camera and then it got left in a damp garage for years, i recently found i and got it working (i was quite surprised) photos are of goodish quality and i like film so i might start using it. the thing is i know nothing about the camera.

its a Hanimex RF35d or so it says on the front...??
ive tried to look for info on hanimex and have not come up with much unfortunately. i dont even think there is a wiki entry for them.

if anyone has any info on this camera or hanimex or know of a good website where i can get more info it would be much apreciated.

i included a picture (i think) if it dosnt work i can email it to you if you think it might help.

thanks in advance.

Hanimex rebranded a lot of cameras and sold them under their name, including Pentacon and Topcon. I think Fuji owns the brand today.

Hi Hanimex is (was) an Australian company who imported and rebadged many cameras from Germany and Japan. I think yours is the 35mm Rangefinder model without exposure meter.Welcome to the mad world of cameras!

Hanimex was an Australian company that imported a variety of cameras and accessories that were made by others and sold them under their own name.

The USA had a similar company called Ponder & Best, which became Vivitar, which was purchased by Hanimex.

Vivitar was sold to Sakar a few months ago.

If this is the photo: http://www.flickr.com/photos/pggp/3096036005/

Then I do not know what camera it might 'really' be. It appears to be an SLR made in Japan about 1980, with a fixed lens and integrated flash.

Hard to say who made it. Perhaps a late Mamiya, Ricoh, Chinon, or Cosina, made to order for Hanimex. I'm just guessing here, I've never seen one in that configuration before.
