Post what you feel is your very best street shot. Only street photography please. And, in a couple of sentences, define what street photography means/is to you.

I don't know if it's the "best" but it's certainly a recent one that I'm very happy with...
What does street photography mean to me?
An excuse to go out for a walk, meet some new people...
Here in the Philippines if I just went walking people would think I'm crazy but if I have a camera in my hand then I have a purpose. I love people, we are the strangest most complex creatures on the planet and I like to observe them, photography is a way to do just that. Also I like to document, particularly here as the landscape is changing so quickly, most off this town will be gone in less than 20 years. People's life styles are changing quickly so I can capture and preserve that.

I don't have a best or a favorite, but here's one that I liked...
If I have to say what I think or why I think it, then the photograph has succeeded. Or, as the artist Robert Whitman said at a performance art "exhibit" I attended last weekend, when asked about the meaning of his piece, [paraphrasing:] "that's for you to figure out." So, the meaning is in the eyes of the beholder I suppose. Beyond that, I'll say that I thought the older gal in this shot was wearin' some cool shoes.

I'll second that.
But, Joe, pick something at random and post it anyway. We'd all like to see anything you've got.

I approach street photography like artistic photography, it's all about the image with me. I do not care for any documenting properties the pictures have, and let others decide on 'that kind of content'.

street photography to me is capturing these quintessentially urban moments formed by the intersection of people and the built environment. this one I like because it conveys a sense of isolation in the midst of crowds which I think is very much part of people's experience. usually I'd find a shot like this too simple with too few elements in it and tend to stay away from shots with a single centered subject but the framing of the subway doors and subject works for me here.

I don't shoot a whole lot of "street" but out of what fits in the genre on my flickr account this one is by far the most popular:

Every shot so far is awesome. Thanks for posting.
And a note: taking shots in a subway car takes a lot of nerve. I'm always nervous doing those. And I admire those who do it and pull it off so well. Bravo!
Streets in small towns are welcome as well. A street is a street I'm realizing.
More please.

I think it's at least 60 years to early for me to choose my best photograph. And when the choosing is done, it won't be done by me.
