Can you spend just a few minutes to help me with a project?

Hi - I'm new to this forum. I'm not a great photographer but I do enjoy it (and don't do nearly enough of it!) Everyone here seems really engaged in the world of photography and I'm hoping you can help me with a project for school.

My MBA team at UCI (university of california, irvine) is doing our final marketing project on cameras since we all enjoy photography. We've set up a short online survey to collect anonymous data to use for our report.

If you are willing to help us, we'd appreciate it so much! It should only take about 10 minutes to fill out the survey. If you (optionally) submit your name, we'll acknowledge you in our final report, and I'll post a link to the report in my profile for all to see.

Here's the survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s.asp?u=886823922108

Thanks for your consideration.

Done.

Amy, if I may suggest a twist on your report, it'd be interesting to do an analysis on how many photographers still consider film as an alternative, not obsolete, and why.

Who knows it may affect the choices made by companies down the road.

How many cameras?
4+?

Ha! This is the 98% response from this group to be sure.

You need additional options for that one. The last response should be "I'll do an inventory and get back to you."

Good luck with your project.

I'll do it too, but you've chosen RFF for random subjects? Most here are disinterested in what most would consider 'mainstream' photography... There are strong biases in this group in favor of older/ simpler gear, street photography, and (gulp) film- particularly the REALLY "obsolete" type, B+W.

Thank you all. We're not worried too much about a random sample, and we're collecting data from referrals from all kinds of sources. We are interested in the opinions of film users, very much so. Although one of our main ideas has to do with how well Leica is/is not competing in the digital age, we can't understand that without understanding users of both film and digital cameras. So the input from all of you is quite valuable to us, actually.

I recently read that camera film sales make up 67% of the Global Photographic
Products market. I was incredibly surprised until I read on and realized they were including photographic medical devices as well. But it may also be the case that outside the "developed" world film still rules? And many professionals and lovers of photography seem to still use and even prefer film. We're still hunting down data on that topic and I'll let you know if/when we find it.

Kiu-
I had the same problem. I own neither, never have, and probably won't unless Canon builds something simpler and more compact or Leica makes something more affordable.
