I find the inaccurate framelines of the M8 an irritation, especially with telephoto lenses (which I use a lot).

I wondered whether a 100mm lens would match the M8 framelines better, and as I'd heard glowing reports of the 1960s black Canon 100/3.5 lens, I bought one. (Dante Stella wrote about it: "Tiny, sharp, and highly coveted, this lens is a must if you are a compactness freak.")

I thought you lot might be interested in what I discovered...

After trying the Canon, I'm stunned by its quality. And, yes, it does match the M8 framelines perfectly, from 10 feet to infinity. At its closest focusing distance of three feet, you have to compensate by adding half the height of the focusing patch to the framelines, to avoid losing the edges of your photo.

Here's a full review of the lens: http://www.rangefinderforum.com/forums/showpost.php?p=1265617&postcount=20. It includes a comparison with my Voigtlander 90mm, which it matched in image quality - some feat, considering that Erwin Puts decribes the CV 90 thus: "[the Voigtlander] lens is a better choice than most second hand 90's from Leica ... and is very close to the performance of the current 2.8/90, which is some act"
