Is this reasonable? Well-known seller in Japan with great feedback, but this seems high based on what I've read here and there. Your thoughts?

Collectors would care, but is there any reason at all for a shooter to prefer Type 2?

Not sure. I had version 1 and found the bokeh not too smooth. v2 is supposed to be
slightly different, optically, and maybe that changes things. Never saw a comparison
though.

Roland.

looks pretty - but an internal element with scratches ? I wouldnt touch that with a ten foot pole....

PS - seller writes: "the two types are optically and physically identical; the only difference is in the legend on the front ring"

Roland, nice site. That Canon 1.2 looks like its pretty sharp at 1.2....but some serious vignetting...???..

I have been thinking about this lens as my next bokeh toy.

I think the seller is wrong. See

In any case, I wouldn't buy a lens with internal or rear glass defects either for that price.
One can get 1.5 Ultrons or almost 1 Summicron for this ....

Roland.

Or a lot of other stuff. I recently purchased a very nice Canon P body, perfect 50/1.4, working CanonMeter, Canon UV filter, original case and a no-name bulb flash for slightly less than this lens went for. Craiglist bay area.
