I needed something to relieve the tedium of a northern Michigan winter so I pulled out my old Canon 50mm 0.95 lens, stuck it on my old Canon 7sZ, and proceeded to take some night pics, which are attached.
As with the Canon 50/1.2, the central 1/3rd of the image area is the sharpest with things softening up rapidly as you head toward the corners. Big time coma, as you can see, in the streetlights, anywhere away from dead center. All the shots are on Tri-X exposed at an E.I. of 300 and developed in Rodinal 1:100 for 16 1/2 minutes at 20C.
I'm curious as to how this lens operates with slow B&W film, in daylight, so I just pulled a roll of Ilford Pan-F out of the freezer and will take some more pics during the next few days. Will post those results later.

Forgot to mention that both pics are at F0.95 at 1/60th of a second.

Rangefinder camera pedant
I know it isn't photo-technically correct, but as a fellow 50/0.95 owner I have to say that I really like the "look" it produces -- bizarre UFO flare spots and all. It's very photographic -- it looks like what a camera sees, not a reproduction of what the eye would see. That's not always a look you want... but when you do want it, this lens really delivers it.

IMO we must not forget that this remarkable lens was designed almost 46 years before today, a time when computers were yet to arrive. Calculation was done by hand...
The results may not be perfect but ... who cares if it enables you to shoot at night at 1/60 @ISO 300?. This is almost shooting with unavailable light!
Happy new Year!

Unavailable Light Photography...
Haven't shot mine for a while, but there was a test shot posted, it was shot at about 1.2 meter on a tripot, available lighting.
