You don't see these that often. I already have one, or I would bid.
Somebody here should buy this:

Not affiliated with the seller, just an interesting rare item.

Believe it or not, this exact same accessory coupler was listed in the RFF classifieds last week. No takers either. I inquired about it too late, the seller already put it on eBay.
Just shows you, always look in the RFF classifieds first.

I just picked one of these up (it was strangely listed for $39 on KEH, I was half expecting to get a completely different part). It's not the most practical thing - it has a screw underneath the shoe that needs to be loosened to mount things, and then tightened to hold them in place. My Voigtlander 21mm finder has a hollow bottom, so I had to stuff some cardboard in there to get it to stay in place. It's also very difficult to see the meter if you have anything at all mounted in the shoe.
My advice - don't bother unless you really need it. If you do need external viewfinders, it gets the job done.

The one I had (Mackinaw now has it) did not require any screws to hold a finder in - it was just like a standard cold shoe and held finder very well. It is a contraption, but it works nicely and looks pretty good on the 7, IMO.

Yep, I bought GDI's Canon accessory viewfinder and it attaches to the flash coupler on the side of the camera and that's it. No screws needed anywhere to secure it. Attaches very solidly too I may add. And I don't have a hard time seeing the meter window (though I rarely use the camera's built-in meter preferring my hand-held).

Hmm, that's odd, mine is indeed slightly different from all of the pictures I'm seeing on the internet - I'm thinking a previous owner must have modified it.

I purchased one from Jiri in Japan and I am very pleased when I use it on my Canon 7. When using it without flash I put a CV Lightmeter and it gives a more readable metering than the Canon 7. Have also used it with a flash and set the camera at 5.6 f and was wonderfully suprised with the results. It is must for anyone with a Canon 7.
