Hi, I have a Canon AE-1 that works perfectly from 2s thru 1/125 but at 1/250 through 1/1000 the shutter hangs open. From there, to return the mirror, you have to either turn the shutter speed down to 1/125 (or slower) or pull the battery.
Battery is new.
Any suggestions on how to fix or should I just learn to live with the 1/125 top speed?
Thanks,
Bill

Now that everyone has spent the last week thinking of nothing but the solution to this issue, I fully expect that there will be a flurry of suggestions on how to fix...

Hi Bill,
If you really like the camera and enjoy shooting with it, I'd send it to Ken Oikawa, he's the best Canon FD repair person in the States. Don't have his phone number, but here is the address of his shop (at least the address of his shop in 2014):
Ken Oikawa
