Help!

Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help or advice on what my be wrong with my little Canon Demi EE17..

Currently I cant cock the shutter as the film advanced leaver wont move, it's behaving like the shutter is already cocked but pressing down on the shutter release dose nothing (important to note if I set the self timer I can trip it with the shutter release) everything else works on this camera so would love to get it working again. :bang:

Any help would be amazing, I can also post photos if it will help

Thanks

I have three of these in the drawer - one in pieces. They're quite complex for what they are.

The wind lock is obviously set which is why you can't move the film advance lever. Unfortunately, whereas on many cameras, the wind lock is under the base plate and easy to release, not so with the EE17. It's built in to the advance mechanism under the top plate and can only be got at by removing the top plate. Essentially, the advance mechanism pushes a lever which is coupled to the shutter and that cocks the shutter. The wind lock get set at the same time. When the shutter is released, the lever gets pushed back and the wind lock gets pulled out of the way and you can advance the film again. The problem could be the shutter isn't releasing or that the wind lock is jammed somehow. Impossible to say without popping the top plate after which you can decouple the lever and operate the two mechanisms seperately and figure out what's not working. All you have to do then is fix it.

Cool, thanks for the advice! any chance you could upload an image of where exactly I should be looking under the top plate?

Sorry, not in a position to do it at present. Maybe end of the week. But it's pretty obvious if you lift the top off which lever I'm talking about.

Here's a couple of pics. First shows the lever I was on about. It's connected to the shutter but, in this picture, the film advance mechanism is removed so the other end goes nowhere. The second picture shows the film advance mechanism. The lever arrowed red connects to the lever in the first picture. The green arrow shows the wind lock.
