Canon done selling film cameras.

I think it is interesting that they will continue to repair them until 2025 (tp thr extent that parts inventory remains available).
 
Never realized they had an inventory of cameras sitting around unsold. Amazing it took 8 years to sell them all! I wonder how many that was... A million? A thousand? A few hundred?
 
Stating the obvious, but so many great used film cameras floating around, from Canon and others, at attractive prices. No surprise.
 
I'm surprised. Wonder where they were keeping the EOS1-V inventory. I was searching for a new one a couple years ago and even contacted Canon USA, and they said none available.

Family EOS 300 is in my bag today. It just keeps on working... And if I'm not using camera flash, batteries lasts for years. Those are now in it are more than five years old.
 
Must still be a market for film cameras as I checked the B&H web page on Leicas and it looks like all the Leica film cameras are out of stock with more to arrive.

If you look at the price of the Leica M-A $4695 and it lasts only 10 years that works out to less than $40 per month to own. If it lasts only 20 years it amounts to less than $20 per month. Some electronic devices cost more than that per month.

This was my understanding as well, a friend was trying to find one about three or four years back.

Makes me feel good about my N90S which I paid full retail for back in 1996. Its cost me just $3.75 a month...

When I last checked, just this January, major Japanese retailers still had it:

But I looked again a moment ago. The notation on Canon Japan's web page for the 1V has been changed from "limited stock" to "sales discontinued" and the retailers also now say the same.

So, this basically means that Canon probably ceased production a while ago and if what was posted over at the Red Dot forum is correct, Leica ceased production of the M7 on 5/24/2018. :(
