Canon F1N issues with off-brand lens

Well I inherited my late father's Canon EF and three lenses back in 2003.
The Canon 50mm F3.5 Macro SSC beautiful lens. And two Tamrons, a 24-48 and a 70-210. Well I decided to put a couple of batteries in the EF, the light bulb test says all is well but the slower shutter speeds are not working electronically. Only when I push hard and hold the on button does the meter work. All worked well when I removed the batteries back in England but obviously there is now a problem.
So I decided to get myself a nice used F1N with the match needle metering head, I do not like automatic exposures. And now the problem, the new Canon and Tamron 24-48 work fine but when the zoom is attached the aperture circle does not come up in the viewfinder. The meter needle works but obviously there is nothing to match it with. I have removed the lens adapter and all seems to go back in place when reconnecting it but still no aperture needle and circle in the viewfinder.
Anyone got an idea that might help please.

Aside that, my father was anything but poor so I decided to see why he bought off-brand lenses. What a shock I got when they both came up as way superior to the Canon versions, good old Pop obviously did his research.

Well I fixed it, after removing and reconnecting the adapter a few times it suddenly finally started working correctly. The connection is apparently sensitive, so it stays in place from now on.
