Is it possible to ease a very stiff to turn aperture ring on a Canon FDn 50mm 1.4? The blades of the aperture are clean, and the aperture opens and closes with ease and quickly. But the aperture ring needs lots of effort to turn it making it uncomfortable for use without removing the eye from the finder.

I have some notes on how to climb inside and have a look - my FDn notes are based on the 50/1.8 but I think they're very similar. Drop me a note at rick.oleson@gmail.com if you'd like a copy.

Rick, thank you so much for saving me once again!
With your guidance I have opened the mount of the lens and just cleaned the inner of the aperture ring that had some black substance accumulated around the tab that clicks on the aperture's stops.

Thank you!
