This might be too specific of a question, but here goes.
I got an FTb
that appears new, except the light seals were paste and the mirror pad was dried to dust. I replaced the seals and the pad with no troubles.
I noticed the old mirror pad had left a residue on the free end of the mirror. With some alcohol, I cleaned it...still no troubles.
Everything worked fine for awhile, till the mirror started hanging. When I would remove the lens to try to see what was going on, the mirror would become free and drop. Eventually, through gentle prodding and observation, I found the mirror can slide ever so slightly in and out, and when it is out it hangs up on the backside of the lens' mount.
So now, I know to push it inwards a little, and it's fine for a number of shots. But I'd like to not need to know this. Is there a fairly uninvasive way to secure the mirror a little tighter in the clips that hold it? First thought was to try to get a tiny bit of epoxy between the edge of the mirror and the inner surface of the clips. Not sure exactly how to do that or even if it is the right thing to do. Has anybody run into this before, and know a low impact way to secure the mirror a little better?
