Hi to all, I’m writing an article on canon P model and its variants, many
tanks to Peter from http://www.canonrangefinder.com/ that help me and put me
in contact with other collectors of canon materials.
Now I’d like to make a
little database of canon P serial numbers and I ask to the forum to help me.
If someone can send to me information about their canon P I’ll appreciate very
much.
I need to know serial number, variant (none, 25th annuversary, black type),
the color dial reminder type (coloured or none coloured), and many other
observation that you think can help me.
Thanks to all

I try to ask again to the forum, can someone help me to make a database of canon P vairants?
thanks in advance

Hi Caila !

I'm sending you the info from my own P when I get home. Some other info may be interesting as well. I noticed that some bodies have the black paint trims on the front part of the body flat black, while others have it quite glossy.

here it goes

CANON
CAMERA NO.756850 P

No special markings

ADA-DIN dial on back. Colors light red - white - light blue

Semi-matt black trims on front of body, glossy black on back.

And it's a beauty 🙂

Hi, I'm new here !

My P is here (sorry, I'm not at home to describe it) :
http://photocam.ibelgique.com/
See page C for the canon P camera and pictures.

Special marking : TE on flash shoe.
I dont know what it means (if someone around here knows, I'm interested)
Seems to be original.

Serial 773139

best camera and lens database I know of is m-fortytwo.info for vintage PENTAX stuff.
It's MySQL based.

This could work for us too. It' s 100% public. Should be best for lenses as well, because AFASIK some of the published production figures might be wrong. A register of all known lenses might correct wrong info of the pre-Internet-era.

My "P": 710263 - non-colored-dial

cheers, Frank

Hi Nicolas,
looking forward to discover such a well made page with your Canon P as you did with the Contax and Nikon rangefinder cameras... 🙂

Hi For a number of years I have been recording the numbers of VI-T, VI-L and model P bodies which have had the B&W or Coloured ASA dials. The VI-T #606743 (B&W) to #612408 (Coloured), VI-L #615004 (B&W) to #620069 (coloured) and Model P #709212 (B&W) to #714803 (Coloured). Anyone haveing # within these listed # let me know via this forum so both of us can record them. Just for interest sake the name "Model L-1" and "Model VT de Luxe" had two colours, black and orange.
