I recently bought one of these lenses from Kim Coxon here in the UK,so as you can imagine it is in good shape.I haven't used it yet,as I have been using a J12(which also came from Kim and is equally well preserved)

I haven't seen this particular Canon 35mm lens referred to on the Forum, generally the faster versions are discussed, and was wondering if anyone has any views/experience of it.Just curious.

Brian.

Raid,
Thanks for the link, lovely pictures, presumably of your little daughter. My version of the lens is slower, at f3.5,I hope that it will give as good results as yours!
Cheers,🙂

i think in terms of sharpness the 3.5 version is less sharp that the others. it shares the lower contrast though.
i think it gives an older look to the photos taken with it.
it is not an unshrap lens but i think it lacks the modern day contrast and crispness of a newer lens.
i had one briefly.

well, i have certainly gained much experience this past year or so in using much gear. much of it has come & gone;that's true too.

but i get closer each time to what eventually will be the ultimate set for me.

and then i'm gonna sell it all and start over again.

😉

Same basic formula as the Leica 35/3.5 Elmar, except all the Canon ones are coated. Don't expect really sharp in the corners at any aperture. But, respectable stopped down. Even Leica told users not to use the 35/3.5 Elmar wide open unless absolutely necessary.

Thanks a lot everyone for the helpful comments.

I like the idea of the 'older' feel from the lens.Fits in quite well as all of my equipment is on the old side, not too mention myself.
(I can hear you all saying--'Aah,pity for him then!! )
That's a little Welsh saying from around these parts.🙂

Thanks again,
Brian.

I have the Canon 35/3.2 - it does have slightly reduced contrast, and can be a bit soft at the edges - but it is a *nice* soft. A very classic feel.

I don't know if the 3.5 is the same formula, but I like the lens.
