Got a Canon T60 out of curiosity's sake and it seems like I may have gotten a dud.

New silver oxide batteries in, the meter responds, advance lever works, but when the shutter button is clicked, there's a small twang sound (which seems like the aperture pin), but the mirror does not flip, nor does the shutter move.

I took off the bottom plate and there's no obvious problems that I could see.

Any advice? I believe I heard once that the T60 is similar to the Olympus OM2000 and the Nikon FM10 in that they're all built by Cosina around the same time.

Well, I did some surgery on my T60 and I managed to fix the issue. In opening the base and removing a panel, I noticed that there was what looked like a magnet and something that looked like it should touch it. Pushed it towards the magnet, fired the shutter, presto!

There's a little arm that pushes the mechanism to contact the magnet. For some reason, this arm was pushing about 0.5mm short from where it needed to be.

Pushed in a small screw driver and bent the arm just a touch and now the camera works fine.

I'm kinda proud of myself. I don't do many repairs and have had a bad track record in general, especially with small fiddly bits.
