I have 2 Canonets a G-III QL17 and a New 28. The lens on my QL17 seems to have some play compared to my 28. Is this something that I should worry about. ? or something I can resolve without ripping the skin off of it? Any assistance is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
If worse comes to worse should I sell it and purchase another. Other then that its in mint condition with new seals.

The4 QL17 is very similar with the Electro GSN. It seems all their lens housing wobbles a bit. I don't know why. I guess it's just the way they're made.

My QL17 GIII has a very slight amount of play in the lens housing. It doesn't seem to affect the focusing or the sharpness of the photos at all. Nothing appears to be visibly loose, and it's definitely not getting worse over time, so I'm not worrying about it.
I've never had the GIII taken apart down to the focusing helix, and I'm not planning to unless there's a real need to do it. The focus on the GIII is not as silky smooth as other cameras such as the Mamiya SD, which I have taken apart that far.
Others have reported this same slight degree of play in theirs as well.

Ok so I really won't worry about it. Other then that I love the camera compared tp the new 28. Anything else I should get for this camera?

Already have a lot of film.
I have the plastic type Canonet case for it, what do you keep it in? I hate the plastic case!

A hood, a yellow 2X filter and lots and lots of Ilford HP5+ film (400 asa).

Cameras are like bunnies
I had some dramatic results with color film and a polarizer filter.

I avoid camera cases whenever possible. Yes, I know they prevent wear and tear, but they are a nuisance, to me anyway. I either carry whatever camera I'm carrying in a free hand with a wrist strip or throw it in my purse or stash it in the back seat floor space in my car.

Most smaller camera cases out there now look they are are for more modern cameras. Not that it matters it just doesnt look right. The plastic 2 part case is definetly not quick and handy nor does it provide a lot of protection.
