The version of capture one LE which came with my M8 has been used mainly for converting the Leica DNG's to tiffs so I could work on them in ACDSee Pro which is my prefered editing software. For some strange reason ACDSee doesn't read Leica DNG's at all so I convert them to tiffs via capture one then transfer them.

Recently I downloaded a trial version of a different phase one editing program and when it deactivated after the fifteen day trial period, after I decided it wasn't suitable, it also deactivated capture one LE and no amount of reinstal attempts will get my original LE version to work again ... it keeps telling me it's expired and is past it's fifteen day trial period and refuses to cooporate and refuses to re-register in spite of the fact that under my user account details on phase one's site it tells me I have a valid version with one reactivation and one update left.

That trial version, when it expired, has hidden something in the registry of my computer that nobbles any other phase one product that has been legitimately installed and now prevents any instalation or usage of my original program.

What the f**ck am I suposed to do now?????

If you haven'talready, you might try a registry search for keywords associated with the offending program. Failing that, do the same for your Capture One and see if anything looks amiss. It's never easy. I guess you have already contacted the two manufacturers and been told it isn't their problem?

try contacting them via customer service and explaining. they should have all your serial# info in their files.
i found them very helpful with sorting out a registration question i had regarding trying to register the LE version that came with a previously owned m8 that i purchased. turns out the key is non-transferable once registered by the original owner.

Same thing happened to me and I also got mad. Tried to dig deep into the windows registry to find the problem but had no luck. Between formatting my drive and forgetting about Capture One I decided to switch to Lightroom. C1 is one weird piece of Dannish software!

Just send Phase One a mail....

I did yesterday jaapv and this was the reply I got tonight when I got home ... seems it's not just my problem which makes me feel a little better!

Dear Keith,
this issue is related to a change of date to 2010 and our R&D team is working on a fix for Capture One LE and DB versions which should be available soon.

Since your key can activate Capture One 4 as well I would recommend downloading Capture One 4.8.3 from our archive and activating it on your computer in the meantime instead.

Thank you very much for your understanding and please accept our apologies for any inconveniences.
With kind regards,

Could you do a "system restore" to a time/date when it was all working..?
Mike

I think the problem is related to date of the system. So, I don't think restore point would work. You may need to modify the system date. You need to live forever in Dec 31st 2009, or at least your PC. :)

Groundhog Day... :)

Why don't you want to use C1 4.8 as suggested but the old C1 LE instead? Works with your serial number.

Oops, I thought it was only the new trial software with the 2010 problem?
My thinking was that if he rolled the system back to before the new "trial" software (which has the 2010 problem) he would be back in the old LE he got with the camera, which doesn't have the 2010 problem and which did the Raw to tif conversion OK. The old registry should be restored.

Then install the new "fixed" software again when it is released.
