The day after the spring equinox felt like spring. I saw some motorcycles on the way home from work today. Time to plug in my bike's battery charger and move the snowblower out of the way.

Frank,

I can relate to the feeling. Having grown up in Wisconsin there was nothing like the first smell of cut grass in the spring. I can literally close my eyes and smell it right now, it's that distinct in my mind. Now, living Texas where the change of seasons isn't as defined it's these little things that I miss the most.

Thank you for helping to conjure up a great memory Frank. Enjoy your weekend and hopefully a ride on your "two wheeler"!!

Scott

Frank: The first ride will come soon ... At least yesterday evening was a quite enjoyable HNIC. ;)

I'll stick with my motorless bike, thank you very much. :) Nothing beats the kicks you get from cycling to work early in the morning and back home in that afternoon heat... Great exercise, by the way. 40 kilometers a day keeps you fit!

Actually, I have something of a scheme behind all that. You know, traveling costs from home to work are tax-deductible here in Finland. Thus, if my costs are some 850 euros per year, I get something back (100 euros) every year. Any costs over 500 euros are returned at a given rate. And since the tax officials do not bother to check every receipt from every citizen (can you say labour-intensive?) that claims to spend money on mass transit tickets, I get to cycle to work, save on the tickets (not buying it) and still declare that I have paid for it the whole year... Looks like the spring came early this year. Mornings are on the cold side, though. 0 degrees or so. Will have to consider bicycling very soon.

It seems I have no moral integrity.

But the main reason for cycling to work and so on, is fun and exercise! I don't even consider myself that athletic. But benefits of workout are widely known. Keeps your mind and body fresh.

Quick-start spray is like a mechanic in a can! My 1976 BMW R90 started right up after several months of inactivity in the garage. I drove around a bit yesterday evening but mainly to find a gas station with an air pump for the tires. It was nice and warm, but I got rained on a bit. Tonight may be dryer!
