Cheap 50/1.4 35/2.5 Hood alt.

I'd like to see first how they work... there's a peculiarity with the Nikon glass threads that doesn't allow modern filters to fit in. At least, that's been my experience. On the other hand... I'd really like one of these, because the Nikon's hood isn't too secure and tends to fall easily off the lens.

Thanks for the heads-up!

New M 43mm Metal Vented Lens Hood Shade for Leica Camera

Bit hard to see the vents I thought ?

Lol, no vents, the hood pictured is the hood you'll get, so says the seller. Took me a while to find it tucked away in the darkness of ebay. But for 1.50$ they are really giving the things away, Im sure postage is atleast 80cents~!

Of course nothing can be so simple, Ive already ordered 2, I will investigate the fit and report back!

For a 1.50$ its worth a try :] Let us know how you like them Chris!

Hey you can even get a 5% discount for orders of 3 or more items from their ebay store

I dunno. For three bucks more you can get the Chinese vented ones from many ebay vendors, and the 43mm one I bought was correct for the Nikkor S lenses.
Still, it's kinda cool to have a discussion about alternatives at this price level, rather than shades of subjective performance in Leica lenses costing a thousand times as much!

Cheers,
Dez

Dez, I've bought many a vented hood, great for DIY stuff, and they make them for every imaginable thread size. Generally a great choice on a budget.

I ordered 2 hoods and a CPL for 4.32$ shipped.
Hoping to mark one hood for the CPL's gradient and give it a go.
That's less than a pack of smokes!

Received my package today, they are the hoods pictured!

Not only are they good looking metal hoods, but they hooked me up with an additional 2 hoods!
Thats 4 hoods and a CPL for under 5$, I serioisly reccomend buying from these guys! Great communication, reasonable shipping (a tad slow due to DHL), and they have an excellent product.

They are getting B-9's approval! Give them a try, you won't regret it!

I have one. They work just fine.

Thank you sir! You hear that guys?! Order away :)
Sorry to hear your still waiting Chris, I was growing inpatient also, DHL is by far the slowest post in the U.S. Its ironic they use DHL to ship these, and then pay USPS to take them to your door. All in all, your basicly getting these hoods for free if you consider postage, I wonder how they make a dollar.

At that price, how can you resist ordering multiple? I have 3, two as spares. They fit very nicely, and actually improve the handling of the skinny aperture ring on the front of the typical 3.5cm lens, by turning via the lens hood. Means you have to screw it on somewhat snugly, but that has no adverse effects (unscrews easily).

As some have already noticed  it arrived today, no thread issues and it looks the part. Slight viewfinder block but only because I looked, doesn't both me, you want a clear view, use an SLR!
Happy camper.

Chris the one below does look nice. Here is one I bought from eBay and use quite a lot with several lenses - including using on some with a 39mm filter ring facilitated by a 39/43mm stepping ring. It's less conical than the one you show. I have used it with everything from 40mm to 90mm lenses and it looks and works well. Surprising how many excellent hods are now available very inexpensively.

I been using this hood for awhile and it works great on my Nikkor 35mmf2.5 lens,
when I got my Nikon S2 and lens I just went to ebay and tried different ones and
that's one was my favorite.

If anyone has trouble getting them internationally, shoot me a PM I have 3 extras.
I see they have a long list of places they will not ship.

Hey everybody,
Thanks for the info on these shades. Picked up 2 & they arrived this week. Put one on the nikkor 3.5cm f3.5 and it looks really good. Snug fit. Very happy so far. Anyway, appreciate the links & opinions/experience.
