Cheap camera bag idea

Indeed they look good, one never has enough bags :) pretty much because one never ceases to get more equipment :bang:

What would you do for internal dividers? I'm guessing that the main compartment is just a big open space and it would, as someone suggested, probably be great for my Mamiya 220 and a couple of lenses, light meter, etc., but I wouldn't want to just throw it all in and let it rattle around and bang into each other. Has anyone found a source for getting some kind of padded inserts or dividers?

I had a similar idea about getting a Black & Decker plastic tool box for my son to put his 4x5, film holders, 6x9 roll film back, light meter, etc. into but I had the same concern... I don't want it all just banging around in the open space. These tool boxes are light, durable, water repellent and they have lots of smaller compartments for roll film, gadgets, etc. One of the big box retailers is selling them for less than $10.

I looked at a couple of equipment vendors for things like Domke back dividers or Tenba inserts, but by the time you buy them, you have spent a lot of money. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Excellent point about internal dividers. My big LowePro backpack has these velcro "sleeves" that can be "adjusted" to fit around different sized lenses or whatevers.

I'd love to find out how to get such an item - it would make "usable" lots of nice bags out there (and stuff I already own). Almost like finding a "permanent "lasting" form of "bubble wrap"!

Please advise if you know where I can get such "sleeves"!

How about the cubed foam that is usually used for hard cases. You could probably squeeze a couple of layers in and fit it in quite tightly, taking out enough cubes to fit the equipment but leave enough to keep it reasonably rigid?

Just be sure to get foam that doesn't outgas... and try to avoid it touching the equipment directly (by covering it with cloth, ie)
