Whilst on ebay a few days ago, I saw two separate auctions (from the same seller) for what was described a Leica "P" filter, one for $10 and one for $5 (because the "glass was loose" on the cheap one. Turns out all it needed was a tightening of the spanner screw.). Not until buying both of them for their opening values (a measly $15 for the pair
) did I do any investigation into what they are.
Turns out these are both swing-out polarizers, code 13396, made by Leitz in (I believe) the early forties. They both are slip-on E39 mount, making them really versatile, especially with my DR 50 'cron.
Both are in brand-new condition (and I'm not using this lightly--they are literally Brand New, and neither is plagued with delamination of the polarizing layer).
And now I would like to ask: does anybody have an idea as to what these are worth? The only price I found anywhere was a quote from "Lens and Repro," who is selling at least one for $195.
(link, almost to the bottom of the page).
a few photos:
And my hood even screws into the front of them!
