Well.. it's that time again, and I'm getting alot of request for a Christmas list for the family having realized trying to pick out photo stuff on their own for a GAS head is an exercise in futility.

I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else has on their list. I'd say lets limit this to three categories: under $25,around $50 and around $100. Any more than this and the list is endless 🙂 Lets also limit it to things that could be ordered or picked up at a semi decent camera shop... something you could expect a non photo savy person to successfully buy 😉 I perish the though of my mother trying to pick out a retina from a rolleiflex.

Here's some things on my list:

Under $25:
- lenspen and/or sensorpen
- Domke gripper strap (black)
- FILM! any and all kinds
- Lowepro photo gloves

Around $50:
- nice big CF card
- Lumiquest Mini-Soft Box
- Paterson tank
- 100ft roll of film (don't care which)

Around $100:
- hmm... still thinking 🙂

I've tried to think of things I would like in the categories, but I can't think of anything I really need. So, I would say film, in any of the price categories. Film is always welcome.

Well, my family really doesn't get this "old fashioned"🙄camera/film stuff so I will be happy with what ever other stuff they pick out.
My list for myself is pretty basic this year: more film, a replacement eye piece ring for my R2a, and some M-mount rear caps.

I ordered a Domke F-5XB in olive which my wife is putting under the tree from my daughter.

Otherwise everything else I'm buying for myself.

I've been trying to get hold of an Epson R-D1 here in Western Europe, but people either don't want to sell or pull their auctions 2 days before closing.
Here's to hoping that Santa drops one down my chimney. 🙂

Luckily I'm also grown up enough to appreciate a practical gift like a knit scarf 😀

Playstation 3, Playstation 3, Playstation 3.

After getting "useful" presents for a few years, I'm looking forward to creeping downstairs at 3am 🙂

Does anyone know any really good photo books out right now? The new Robert and Shana ParkeHarrison book is on my list, as is the Salgado "Africa" book. I really want Magnum Magnum, but it's a bit expensive for my list.

But I never got any expensive photo-stuff as a present. So when I want it, I have to buy it myself. I will put some photo books on my wishlist, for example
Sebastiao Salgado - Eye on Africa or Tim Walker - pictures.

During this Christmas I played the part of one who caters to the wishes of others by selling gear.

I have no photography-related items in my wish list. I'll buy GTA 4 for PC and that should keep me entertained. lol

What I really need is a long weekend away from the family to go shoot pictures.
Seems a mean thing to ask for on Christmas...so I'll settle for a new carving knife.
