About 35 years ago, I went on a camping trip with my girlfriend. We camped at a small campground in Arkansas that was quite nice. It's just a small site on the side of the road at the top of a hill, with picnic tables and a stone building that has showers and facilities.
I had my Olympus OM-1 MD and Zuiko 50/1.4, and still have pictures of the trip, but none that identify the location of the campground.
Time passed, more girlfriends (and a wife) came and went, and I forgot where that campground was. I don't get to Arkansas very often, but on the way through the state have made several attempts to relocate that campground.
Lately, I've become somewhat obsessed with finding it. I am headed out today (long weekend) to go find it. I'm taking the same OM-1 MD and Zuiko 50/1.4 along, just for fun.
Is it normal to really want to go back to places you've been long ago? Or, is that a bad sign (like senility setting in or something)?
Have you ever circled back to a place that you visited so long ago that the details were lost in the mists of time? If so, how did it go?

Hi,
Well, I think we all do it but these days I restrict myself to the far North of England or Scotland or Wales where they are not so keen to develop and ruin. Going back to Surrey (or South London as they call it these days) I get lost and upset.
A friend of mine has the same semi obsession but wants to go back because he bought some land there and now can't remember where it is...
Regards, David

Maybe it is a common thing to want to revisit places. The mystery of just where was that place? has gotten me totally determined to find it again. The trouble is, of course, that it may not be there anymore - which means it will be super-hard to find.
