I recently picked up a Canon Serenar 35mm f/3.5 LTM from eBay. The focus is a bit sticky and there is some light haze inside the lens. I'd love to have it CLA'd but not sure where to go or who to ask in NYC or the surrounding area. Does anyone have any suggestions (or also know what this typically runs price-wise)? Thanks!

the common carriers work pretty well. I'd use of of the usual suspects: Sherry in NY, YouXin in MA or DAG in WI, just to name a few.

I had my black Canon 28/3.5 CLA'ed at Nippon. Cost about $150.00.

The thing with the Canon lenses is the grease dries out and the focus gets stiff. First just use the lens to see how much you like/love it is my advice.

BTW I really love my lens.

Sherry also charges about $75.00 per half so her pricing is also around $150.00. On my chrome Canon/Seranar 28/3.5 I just used the lens and lived with the stiff focus. The Canon lenses do not tend to fog like 50's Leica lenses.

Thanks, Cal! Turns out I work just blocks from Frank Rubio/Camera Doctor (36 E. 30th) so I took it to him. He's charging $125. I'll let you know how it goes!

I think you did good.

I think you will like the rendering and center sharpness of this lens (the corners have that soft retro look).

I did a lot of street shooting with a chrome Canon Seranar version of this lens on a IIIG. I ended up trading away the lens and selling the IIIG, but when I bought my black Canon 28/3.5 I had to buy another IIIG.

Youxin Ye in Massachusettes does excellent work and knows Canon lenses quite well. He is very reasonable. I just got back 4 lenses from him and he brought them back life. If you google his name you will find his website and contact info. Send him an email and he'll get back to you quickly.
