Light Catcher
Sent my Periflex 2 to Newton Ellis & Co in Liverpool (tel:0151 236 1391) on March 2 and it came back yesterday April 18. It went because one of the blind tapes had come off and as it was a new to me camera I thought it might be a good idea to have it a CLA.
A very helpful Ian had been recommended by Peter at CRR in Luton.
I have done some chasing over the last few few weeks because the original estimate of 3 weeks got extended because of the amount of work at the firm and a series of odd problems with which Ian was contending.
So the body has had a CLA - not bad condition inside, was the verdict. 'Of course the outside is a bit marked but it is anodised aluminum after all.'- Peter's comment. The 'leather'covering has been fixed back - Periflex seem to shed their coats a bit like a snake. The 'preselector' on the lens has been fixed although Ian admitted it wasn't quite what he thought he was going to find when he took it apart.
I haven't had the chance to put a film through yet but the general impression so far is of a good job done. It is all a bit stiff but I guess Periflex are 'odd beasts' anyway.
