Go to "My benefits".
There you'll find how to claim them.

In my "Benefits" page, appears as follows:
"LEICA M8: Ordering your IR/UV barrier filter"
One question, do you receive a link in your mail validating your registration?
If not, email Leica or contact your dealer.

If your benefits page reads like that, it would indicate that the free UV/IR filters registered for that camera have already been used--or else that Leica's system is in error.
I just ordered two this morning on a new M8, and when I checked back just now after reading your message, the exact same page as what you quote above appeared. So that would mean this message occurs only when the system thinks it has already taken your order. You should contact Leica if you think there is a problem.

I had the very same thing. In my benefits page no option was visible where I could order the filters. I then contacted Leica directly by email. The answer I received was quick but discomforting, to say the least. Leica told me they only send the free filters once for any single M8. My camera serial number had been added to their database in September of 2007.
I bought my M8 new (according to the camera store), however, last December of 2008. So either my M8 was previously owned and the store resold it as new, or some camera stores try to win a quick buck by ordering Leica-filters for yet unsold camera's. Alternatively, there could be a problem with Leica's database were the system lets people order free filters based on guessed serial numbera, rendering the option for the real camera owner impossible.
What bugs me most, though is that Leica told me my M8 was registered by someone in Amsterdam, which is too much of coincidence because that is where I bought it.
Cheers, Maurits

I would -for sure- request clarification at your camera store.

And what about if anybody has registered a camera using that serial number?
Nobady ask me for any proof of purchase when registered mine.

A little OT... but I requested my free IR filters in early Jan 09 (the camera was bought new in May 07 but the IR filters were never requested). I was able to choose the filters I wanted, but I never got a confirmation email saying that those filters would be shipped... and the "my benefits" page is now as people have described for a user who's ordered the filters. Anyone know what the lead time is on these?
@OP, I second what the others say though... definitely seems like someone else has ordered your free filters. Take it up with the shop where you got your M8.

When I registered my M8 I typed the serial number wrong and it went through... I then called up and had it changed.

The Leica site is totally hopeless. I have not decided what UV/IR filter to get, and since I needed one only, I redeemed the one. Lo and behold, I can no longer get the second filter!!! Crap.

Well-known
It should also be pointed-out that many filter sizes for legacy Leica lenses are not offered. So even older Noctiluxes with 58mm threads are excluded, for instance.
If they're unwilling to offer a fuller range of filters themselves (and by this I mean filters that cover a greater number of Leica's own legacy lenses), I do think they could supply some sort of voucher that covers at least a part of the cost for filters that must be bought at the full price instead.

I had the same problem.
Turned out they had not registered my M8 serial number in their database.
Adeal customer service here in Australia had it fixed very promply and the two filters are on their way ... to me I hope.

Is there an expiry time on when to claim these filters, from date of camera purchase?

Has anyone found a source for reasonable prices on these IR filters? The two free ones are nice but it's a pain to change filters from one lens to another. I am not excited about spending $189. on another one though, especially just to compensate for a camera issue.

Is 55,90 Euro OK? (Up to 46 mm)
Just type "486" under "Suchen" after clicking the B&W button.

I went to the point of calling Leica USA. There are a number of recently manufactured M8's which were not registered in their computer system at time they were shipped. They e-mailed the lady in Germany, she registered it on the system, and in 48 hours, the system was set so I could access the My Benefits section. I already have the filters. Took about 10 days total. They FedExed them from Wetzlar.
Call Leica USA.
Your problem won't surprise them...

I have one of the "Demo" M8s that come with a one year warranty. I'm trying to get it registered with Leica, but having problems as it was registered by someone else previously. I've heard mixed reports about free filters for these "Demo" models so I'm hoping for the best, but prepared for the worst.
The whole thing has got me thinking that Leica really should have done things differently. The idea that you buy a $5,000 camera, struggle to register it, and must then wait for the company to ship you an essential part for color photography is laughable. Leica could have included vouchers with the camera which would be redeemed by any dealer. That way you open the box and use the vouchers at the time of purchase to get your filters. The dealer then sends the vouchers to Leica for reimbursement. If there are no vouchers in the box, you know something is wrong. This would have made the experience so much better for many people.
Just a thought.
