I just did this on my new Hi-matic 11 rangefinder so figured I would put some
notes here before I forget..
To remove the top cover you have one screw on the side, one on the back,
a screw in collar aroung the rewind shaft and a there is a cover over the
winding lever. No special tools needed. The flash sync wires (2) are very
short. You have to remove the cover over the hot shoe and remove 4 screws
to lift that piece off. Ease it up and peek under it an make a note of how the
two metal contacts fit together. These contacts are held on with a tiny snap
ring. Use a tiny flat blade to remove it...Once your done its a pain to get back
in place.. Also the shutter button will fall out of the top cover when lifted.
Around the viewfinder at the back of the camera will likely be some deteriorated
foam. Remove it. I think foamies would work there, I was out so did not put
any seals in there. Use a blower to remove the dust, then lint free Q tip with
glass cleaner on it for cleaning it out. Standard precautions apply about
cleaning mirrors, etc. Clean out the top cover glass inside and out and
slip the top cover back on for a quick look and see if it is clean..These have
excellent finders on them much like the Konica Auto S2 has...Not much else
to do in there, just put the cover on, reconnect the hotshoe and put the
screws in and your done.
