I'm going to be working in Cleveland Heights for a week near the beginning of December and was wondering about some photographic outings. My schedule is random so I may be out mornings or afternoons.
I'm wondering about trails, architecture, abstracts but just generally getting out to shoot while I'm there.
Any ideas?
Your help is much appreciated.

brain drain...
Used to live there - Case Western Reserve University is a very pretty campus with lots of old buildings. Severance Hall and the Museum of Art are within walking distance. The downtown area is not very busy after hours, but the "flats" is a popular place to hang out over the weekend (big bar scene) and may provide some nice "street" shots.

The "Flats" are dead now....
The "Flats" are dead now....
but downtown is still a great place to shoot. The Flats have kind of been replaced by the "Warehouse district" for nightlife on a slightly more upscale basis. Around Cleveland Heights you'll find lots to shoot as well....Case West. Res U., Art Museum, Nt. Hist Museum, Botanical Gardens, Cleveland Clinic, blah blah. Downtown there are many public areas and monuments worth a look, the Rock Hall, the "Q", the Jake, Browns Stadium, an ore boat museum, WWII Submarine museum, Tower (Terminal Tower) City, etc.
It's a pretty cool city....I live 35 or so miles east and enjoy jaunts downtown. If you need a last resort tour guide, PM me. I'd make the drive in for a day, I guess even at $3+/gal.

I live in Westlake (just west of Cleveland) and work downtown.
There are a great many shots to be found in the immediate downtown area. Because you'll be in Cleveland Heights I'd suggest Coventry which has a pretty decent night life now. Little Italy and the University District are also great places to go. Ohio City and Tremont also offer some great street shooting.
The Botanical Gardens (http://www.cbgarden.org/) are a must but check their website for the latest photography rules (yes, they have rules). The Holden Arboretum (http://www.holdenarb.org/) is my favorite spot for nature shots and you'll be reasonably close to several of the Cleveland Metroparks (http://www.clemetparks.com/). On the west side, you can always go to the zoo (http://www.clemetzoo.com/),
I think that hits most of my favorite places; you can see several of them in my Flickr gallery.
