It seems to be a habit - I always seem to wait until a camera I fancy is on close out with the launch of the latest model some ex dem , the Fuji X-Pro 1 just acquired, brought it to mind .
I have not bought one Digital at full price .

Just once did I buy used because I knew the short history of the Sony A390 made for just 2 years , so knew how old it would be . It's immaculate @ £100 because I wanted a waist level finder .

I reckon that last year's camera is no less good because flavour of the month has changed !

Depends on how long you keep it. A discontinued camera may have parts shortage sooner in the event of failure.

The advantage is you always own the latest technology.

Well...

Well...

Of course early adopters pay dearly to live on the bleeding edge.
Smart money waits until new models take the shine off the old.

Well, true early adopters keep reselling to upgrade, so they only pay part of the new cost of a camera on an ongoing basis. Kind of like leasing cost....

The Beetle has changed a little .
I went the Citroen Route with a 600cc Dyane,
We still have a 1986 2cv , so there will be two cars with wings .
