I am changing my work flow - instead of scanning negatives I have started making proof sheets, at least for b & w. Printfile makes nice archive sheets with a built-in pocket for 8.5 X 11 paper. It works great, and I can see myself doing scanning only selectively in the future.
Except I do also shoot color film, and there I am stuck. I wondered if anyone on RFF makes color proof sheets, and could clue me in on what the potential problems are. Is temperature that big of a deal? I have not worried about it much with b & w so far as printing goes, in general "adequate time" (about 2 min in my case) does not seem too affected by minor variations in temperature.
