I am thinking about doing some informal comparisons of several 35mm lenses for either M or LTM, plus Nikon and Zeis lenses. I am targeting early May for such a project if there is support from you.

I currently have only the following 35mm lenses:

1. Summicron 35mm/2.0 (first version with goggles).
2. Summaron 35mm/3.5.
3. Canon 35mm/1.8.
4. Canon 35mm/2.8.

A few months ago, I have done testing for 50mm lenses with the help from some of you here. I received several fine 50mm lenses, including some rather hard to find ones, such as the Canon 50mm/0.95, the Nikkor 50mm/1.1, and the Leica Noctilux 50mm/1.0. It is a special test when having so many different lenses.

Looking back to the lenses I had with me for the testing, I wish I had had more time to spend with lenses such as the 50mm/1.4 Millenium. It is a rather time consuming and task when you have 25-30 lenses and you use film that must be developed and scanned.

If I could get a few more 35mm lenses for the comparisons, it would make the results more interesting. The lenses don't have to be valuable. There are numerous 35mm lens types around, as you know.

If anyone is willing to send me [eventually] her/his lens and to cover return postage, please send me a pm.

Thanks.

Mark has proposed to send me his Canon 35mm/2.0.
This makes it then five lenses.
I am considering expanding the test to include lenses in the range
28mm~40mm.

This means that I have:

a. 28mm lenses:

1. Canon 28mm/3.5
2. Minolta Rokkor 28mm/2.8

b. 35mm lenses:
1. Summicron 35mm/2.0 (first version with goggles).
2. Summaron 35mm/3.5.
3. Canon 35mm/1.8.
4. Canon 35mm/2.8.
5. Canon 35mm/2.0 (Mark)

c. 40mm lenses:
1. Summicron-C 40mm/2.0

That's eight lenses so far.

Robin has suggested to loan me a Jupiter 12 and a CV Color Skopar. It just so happens that Robin lives in Pensacola like I do. Thanks Robin.

Rico: Thanks! This will provide an interesting comparison between my older design Summicron and your newer lens.

Alan has volunteered his CV 35mm/1.5 for the tests. Thanks!

It is important to label each lens and also please either place a label on any lens hood or lens caps so that there is no confusion. I have not lost any lens cap or adapter in any of my testing.

My target date for the testing is around May 1, so it is not neccessary to mail any lens now.

Somebody please provide a CV 28/3.5, 28/1.9 and 40/1.4. I would, if I could live without them for a few weeks - but I cann't

Roland.

We now have fifteen lenses, ranging from old design lenses to modern higher contrast lenses. Duplicate lenses are not being avoided but invited. This is especially good for older lenses so that a replicate is available to counter criticism that vintage lenses are not dependable due to the variability from lens to lens over time. Typically, I would stop at twenty five lenses. Else, it is too much for me.

Hi Raid,
I wish I could help, but I have no wide angle Nikkors in screw-mount!
Can you believe that?
I feel so incomplete :(

Kiu: If someone also sends me his Nikon camera, we are set. :D

I am extending the coverage to Nikon and Zeiss lenses. People are very interested in the new Zeiss line, and Nikon lenses always have been a measure stick. Last test, you generously sent me the Nikon S2 and Mark sent me a Canon 7s. Without these two loaner cameras we would not have had a test of you wonderful Nikon lenses or of the amazing Canon 50mm/0.95.

I will pm you on the Nikkor 50/1.1
