I think I've finally got my Yashica lust under control. For some reason I feel it's time to tally the total damage as I feel I now have all the Yashica's I want or want to try either in hand or on the way. All were bought off of eBay. In order...
1. Yashica Lynx 14. Amazing build. Clean VF and a pristine body. Needs new light seals and the metering doesn't work like it should. Seals aren't a big deal and I've already got an accurate shoe mount meter to go with it. Cost shipped $40.44 + $10.60 for a Polaroid shoe mount meter.
2. Silver Yashica MG-1. Cosmetically nice but not perfect. Functionally perfect! This is one that the seller advertised as serviced completely by Mark Hama. The new seals and spotless viewfinder make me believe him. Shipped $65.34.
3. Yashica ME-1. The only one that I don't like. I've already dissassembled it for parts. Luckily it came with a brand new CS-14 flash that I've already tried out. It works pretty good. Cost shipped $20.55.
4. Yashical Electro 35G. Near pristine! Clean and clear VF. Everything functions as it should. Even the everready case looks perfect! The only bad thing was it was missing the screw in batter cap. Seals look kind of bad but I've been using it and so far no light leaks. Cost shipped $31.44.
5. Yashica Electro 35G. A piece of junk. Someone had obviously dropped it on it's front lens assembly. I bought it for the base and battery cap (which are oddly enough spotless) for the Electro above. When time permits I plan to take my spare base and use it as a patter for a custom base I plan to build. Cost shipped $16.17.
6. Black Yashica MG-1. Cosmeticall near mint. Seals need to be replaced and the viewfinder is dirty. Everything functions like it should though. This one will be going to Mark Hama for service. Cost shipped $39.
7. Yashica Electro. Oddly enough this was advertised as an Electro. The seller really didn't know much about it and didn't even bother taking it out of it's everready for pictures. Imagine my suprise that it's a Electro 35 GS in perfect shape! Not one sign of use anywhere! It only needs new seals to be as new again. In fact it's so nice I hate to even use it. Not so much that I won't though.
It came with the kit Yashica sold: Big case (perfect), everready (good shape), lens hood (perfect), auxillary wide angle (perfect), telephoto (perfect), tele-wide finder (perfect), cable release (perfect), Yashica 1A filter (perfect), Yashica 80B filter (obviously used but unscratched), manual for the kit. The tripod is missing. Cost shipped $44.66.
The last two I went a little overboard on but I figured I want them so what the ...
8. Yashica Electro 35CC. I really wanted this one. Hopefully it won't take too long to get here. Cost shipped $236.
9. Black Yashica Electro 35GX. I really wanted this one also. Same deal, will be waiting impatiently for it. Cost shipped $206.99.
So the total (before servicing the ones that need to be serviced) is $711.19. I'm guessing servicing costs for the ones I won't do myself will be around $300. In the end around $1000.
To put things into perspective, I've got one lens in my Nikon system that cost me more than that total. I'd say it's a bad addiction but not that bad in the grand scheme of things.
So here I am with a bunch of great Yashica rangefinders, plenty of exposed film that now needs to be scanned, and I'm having a blast!

Seriously though, I've got quite a few TLR's sitting around now that haven't been used in atleast a year. I just prefer the RF experience more I guess. I don't pull out my TLR's unless I anticipate a need for MF.

I have a yashica tripod if you would like to give me a price you are willing to pay for it, I may sell it. I got it with my GTN the camera, case, and tripod, were still in the box, along with a manual and a leaflet.

Man, I feel guilty. Mine cost me $36 plus shipping - on eBay, yet. It's near mint, works perfectly. Don't know how I did it, just got lucky. Not to rain on your parade but it's my least favorite Yash. Not that it's a bad camera - it's very nice. But the 1/250 is annoying, 400 speed film + sunny day = over-exposure warning light on at all times. You'll need an ND filter. You can't synch flash at all speeds. Plugging in the flash into the X socket limits you to 1/30th automatically, no way around it. No hot shoe, limited to 400 asa, limited shutter speed, limited to 1/30 with flash...
This is one where I ask, what were they thinking? Great lens, great build quality, very cool looking, nice and compact. Would have been a perfect little rangefinder but they introduced to many annoyances.
I much prefer the Konica Auto S3. There's almost no difference between 35mm focal length and 38 on the Konica.
Still, the CC is good for stealthy street photography - and indoor candids. Just wish they would have not introduced so many unncessary annoyances.
