i have a royal 35-m rangefinder. i am considering selling and have found little info on value etc... the last $ value i came across was 700 dutch gilders???? on the internet. anyhow, if anyone has an idea of it's value or any relative info on it please let me know. in the end i suppose it's only worth what someone will pay right?
i am also curious as to whether or not a cla prior to sale would be worth it? the meter seems to be working fine, overall in good shape (vulcanite needs some attention) but i believe the finder needs a good cleaning... possible mold.

My view, is that since the cost of the CLA can be greater than the market value of the camera, including the CLA within your asking price will disproportionately increase its cost Unless there are any known faults which must be identified to a potential purchaser, I would leave it to the potential purchasers to determine whether they want it to be CLA'd or not. Horror of horrors, they may wish to use it as a paper weight or non functional piece in a collection, in which case a CLA would be redundant and would only push up the price of the sale.

Good luck

I agree - don't do a CLA. I've no idea what the camera might be worth, but I suspect that adding the cost of a CLA to it might make it unsaleable (or at the very least, will increase its sale value by less than the cost of the CLA).

Just surfing the old messages. Royal 35M via net 85-105 (US dollars) McKeown's has it at $65-100. I'd estimate that a CLA at $80 to $110 but KEH advertises one for $45. As for the vulcanite you can get a good glue at a hardware store for $5. I've used Loctite. A few drops worked great.
